Cam Vale

Cam Vale

Chief Executive Officer (newly appointed)

Cam brings over 20 years of executive leadership experience across sport, entertainment and not-for-profit sectors, including CEO roles with Hockey Australia and Baseball Australia, as well as executive leadership roles with North Melbourne Football Club and Melbourne Storm. More recently, he has been working across a range of strategic and financial consulting roles within the sport and leisure industry, including here in Melbourne.

Across his career, Cam has built a strong reputation for leading organisations through change, strengthening financial performance, and creating meaningful connections between community participation and elite sport. He has successfully led organisational turnarounds, secured major partnerships, and driven significant revenue growth, while keeping a strong focus on people, culture and community impact.

What stood out throughout the recruitment process was Cam’s genuine passion for community, his balanced leadership style, and his ability to think strategically while still being hands-on. He has extensive experience working with Boards, government, and community stakeholders, and is excited about getting to know our people, our services, and the communities we support.

Barry Harrison

Barry Harrison

General Manager Organisational Support

Barry has an extensive background in the Leisure and Recreation industry. He has managed centres in three states and two countries spanning over 30 years. Barry has managed large local government-owned facilities including leisure centres, stadiums, event centres, convention centres, theatres, an art gallery and a cinema. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the role having worked as a consultant, a teacher, and as an organisational coach in government, not-for-profit and commercial organisations.

Barry has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Graduate Diploma in Innovation and Service Management, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He currently holds several voluntary positions including:

  • LSV – Representative on the Aquatic Education and Industry Engagement Council
  • LSV – Aquatic Industry Representative on the Future Governance Working Group
  • ARV – Co-Chair of the Local Government Managers Networking Committee
  • Committee for Wyndham – Board Member
  • Committee for Wyndham – Chair of the Finance, Risk, Audit and Governance committee
Rod Gaut

Rod Gaut

General Manager Operations

Rod is a founding member of the WLS team and has a background in stadium management, health club management and new facility start-ups within the public sector. Prior to starting with WLS in 2015 as Stadium Manager, Rod held positions with the City of Whitehorse and Maribyrnong City Council.

Rod has over 15 years’ experience in the leisure industry and holds a Bachelor Degree in Recreation Management.

Our Role

The Executive Team is responsible for day-to-day operations, delivering on WynActive’s mission, and ensuring our programs and services are safe, inclusive, and accessible. They lead with integrity and accountability, driving continuous improvement and innovation to meet the needs of our growing community.

Each Executive brings a wealth of experience in areas such as recreation, community engagement, operations, finance, and leadership. What unites them is a passion for creating healthier, happier communities, and a commitment to making WynActive a place where everyone feels welcome.
