Locker Upgrades
Locker Upgrades to Boost User Experience
Visitors to AquaPulse and Eagle Stadium can look forward to improved locker facilities, with a major renewal project set to modernise key systems and enhance reliability, security, and ease of use.
The Locker Renewal Project was initiated after a detailed condition assessment found that several critical locker components were nearing the end of their service life. In response, Wyndham City Council (WCC) partnered with WynActive to plan and deliver a targeted upgrade program.
Data-Driven Upgrade Approach
The project began with WCC and WynActive working closely with current contractor Metra to review the existing health check data. This collaborative effort ensured that the upgrade to scope was accurate, practical, and aligned with long-term operational needs.
Following this review, a defined scope of works was released to the market, covering locker systems at both AquaPulse and Eagle Stadium. Lockers at the Werribee Outdoor Pool were excluded after inspections confirmed they remained in good working condition.
What’s Being Upgraded
The renewal focuses on replacing essential electronic and control components that underpin locker functionality. Key upgrades include:
- New touch screen displays for improved interaction
- Replacement of barcode and RFID readers to enhance access reliability
Structural elements such as timber panels and door hardware will continue to be maintained on an on-going basis.
Contractor Appointed, Works Imminent
Following a competitive tender process, Metra was successfully reappointed to carry out the works. The upgrades are scheduled for completion in June, with minimal disruption anticipated for facility users.
Benefits for the Community
The project is expected to deliver a range of noticeable improvements for visitors:
- More reliable lockers, reducing faults and out-of-service units
- Faster and easier access, thanks to improved touchscreens and reading devices
- Enhanced security for personal belongings through upgraded technology
- Lower maintenance disruptions, with newer systems requiring fewer repairs
Future-Focused Facilities
The Locker Renewal Project reflects a broader commitment by WCC to maintain high-quality, modern facilities for the community. By investing in updated infrastructure now, the Council aims to ensure its recreation centres continue to meet the needs of growing and changing user expectations.
Once complete, the upgraded lockers will provide a more convenient and dependable experience for thousands of visitors who use the facilities each week.
